With a degree in Finance and Economics, Michelle Reuss was well suited for her 18 years in various accounting and financial settings. She has worked with Wells Fargo as an Assistant Branch Manager, managing sales goals, marketing, customer service, and personnel. As a Senior Finance Manager with American General, a leading loan and insurance company, she managed staff in collections and loans.
Reuss understands many aspects of the financial world from banks and hospitals to private enterprise. Her project management experience includes Vets Helping Vets, creating programs to help homeless veterans attain affordable housing, navigate VA benefits, and acquire needed supplies. During her time with Support of the Guard and Reserve, Reuss was a business liaison working to educate businesses on both the laws and benefits of hiring and maintaining their veteran employees. At Operation Home Front, she assisted family members of deployed military in a variety of ways, including financial counseling, emotional support, fundraising and developing special programs to support the families. She did extensive fundraising, and planned activities for student veterans on the U of I campus, and with the Military Affairs Association, directed the 2011 and 2012 Veteran's Day Banquet dinner and programs two of the most successful banquets to date. Her ongoing support for veterans in a variety of programs includes the Army Community Partnership Council, English River Outfitters, GIVE Program, Wells Fargo Military Banking (which included special accounts and financial advising specifically for veterans), Iowa Troop Support, Honor Flights, and support designed specifically for female veterans. She also participated in the flag project through the U of I Athletics department with the 2012 Veteran's Day Game flag ceremony.
