Ira Szot

Ira-Szot.jpgTwo things most influential on Szot during his childhood were the excitement of car racing and the discipline that comes from having both his mother and father serve in the US Army as sergeants during WWII. It was inevitable that he and Armed Forces Motorsports would find each other.

With more than three decades of experience in marketing, promotion, corporate relations, and business development, Szot lends support to AFM and other programs that benefit veterans and active duty GIs. As an independent marketing consultant, he helps clients develop strategies, partnerships and campaigns, and is currently helping clients introduce clinically-proven and much-needed health technology to the DoD and OSD/Health Affairs. Szot is also a partner in a medical device company and in a bike rack company.

Szot's unique breadth of expertise is well-matched to the AFM's goals and needs. Prior to starting his own consultancy, Szot was a partner in a leading cause-related marketing agency, working with national organizations that included American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and X PRIZE Foundation. Prior to that, he was a partner in and/or held senior strategic, creative and business positions with agencies in the Omnicom and Saatchi networks, working with a vast array of national and global companies, including American Express, Cadbury-Schweppes, and McCulloch/Black & Decker.

Szot enjoys watching races on TV (especially the F1 in-car cam shots), and attends all forms of racing when he can, from road racing at Lime Rock to drag racing at Raceway Park.
